Playa de las Américas is a purpose-built holiday resort between the Municipio of Arona, and Adeje in the south of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. It was built in the 1960s beside the town of Los Cristianos and stretching northward to the Costa Adeje. The resort area features numerous bars and nightclubs, as well as a number of beaches, most of which are man-made from imported sand from Africa due to the darkness of the native volcanic sand. Playa de las Americas is well known for being the nightlife epicenter in Tenerife and has a vibrant and varied assortment of bars, clubs, restaurants and attractions. Nightlife is spread around the resort although the most famous areas are the Veronicas strip, Starco Commercial Centre and the Patch.

Starco Commercial Centre
This is a square commercial centre packed with bars and fast food take aways all within a small area making moving from bar to bar very easy. Here you’ll find the nightclub, Tramps who host world famous DJ on a regular basis. You’ll find smaller bars here such as Linekers, Brannigans and Mett Bar. This has a good reputation and is regularly frequented by the young and lively tour operators. This area is also known as the most prominent area to spot certain celebrities, such as football players and soap stars. Famous people who are frequently spotted in the area consist of Gemma Atkinson, Alain Haine, Alon Harris and Charlotte Church to name a few.

The Veronicas Strip
The Veronicas strip is the most famous nightlife area in Tenerife. It hosts both bars and clubs over 3 floors in 5 buildings. Bars and clubs such as Bobby’s, O’Neill’s and the Sound of Cream can be found in this area. It has a reputation of being very boisterous and can often be the subject of bad publicity due to numerous fighting incidents being prominent in this area.
